This article provides instructions for adding and configuring a Static Table in the Basic Form Builder.

Static Tables

Admins and Designers can use Static Tables in the Basic Form Builder to repeat a set of fields as many times as needed—just like you adding another line item to a spreadsheet.

Please Note

Even if you use Auto-Build to create your Basic Form, you will still need to manually add and configure your Table to fit your PDF.

Add a Static Table

To add a Static Table to a Basic Form:

  1. Create a new form using your preferred Basic Form Builder option.
  2. On the left side, in the Add panel, add a Static Table by one of the following options:

    • Drag the Table to where you want it on the PDF.
    • Click to add a Table to the last page of the PDF.

    Please Note

If your PDF does not have enough room, use Replace PDF to upload a new one that has a blank page.

  3. In the upper-right corner of the Builder, click Save.

Configure a Static Table

Once the Static Table is created and in the right location, there are multiple required and optional configuration options:

  1. In the right panel, in the Title textbox, enter the Table name.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the Table, click the add.svg to add columns.
  3. In the bottom-left corner of the Table, click the add.svg to add more rows.
  4. On the left side of the Table, in the header space labelled Column 1, highlight the text and enter the key field Label.
  5. (Optional) In the right panel, expand the Type dropdown menu and select the desired field type for the key field:
    • Date
    • Number
    • Dropdown
    • Short Text (default)
    • Time
  6. Highlight and rename each header Label for all columns.
  7. (Optional) While the column is selected, in the right panel, expand Type and select the desired field type for each column (Short Text is the default).
  8. Using the control points in any corner of the Table, resize it to fit the space allotted.
  9. In the upper-right corner of the Builder, click Save, then Test the field, and click Publish and Assign to users.

Additional configuration controls

Copy

In the upper-right corner of the Table, click duplicate.svg to create a copy of the Table, including all formatting.

Delete

In the upper-right corner of the Table, click delete.svg to delete the Table.

Down arrow

On the right side of each cell of the Table, click chevron-down.svg to expand the option menu:

  • Add column left (not available on key field column)
  • Add column right
  • Delete column (not available on key field column)
  • Add row above
  • Add row below
  • Delete row
Hide headers

On the right side, in the Table panel, click to turn on Hide table header on PDF and/or Hide column header on PDF. You must still name the table and column headers but they don't need to be visible on the PDF.

Resize cells

Resize individual columns or rows by dragging their borders.

Typography

On the right side, in the Typography panel, format the fields using Font and Alignment settings.

Limitations

Static Tables have a few limitations, including:

  • Add Static Tables: Each one must be manually added to the PDF, including forms built with Auto-Build.
  • Empty cells: Unused rows will be white space on the final PDF.
  • Fill rows: Users can fill as many rows as needed when completing a submission and view all data in the portal, but the PDF includes only the number of rows configured when building the form.
  • Location: Static Tables are always placed at the end of a form, regardless of their location on the PDF.
  • Page limit: Static Tables can only be as big as a single page.
  • Size limit: Row heights and widths have minimum limits, so some Static Tables may not match the dimensions in the original PDF.
