This article provides information about how to add and configure Date fields in the Basic Form Builder.

Admins and Designers can use Date fields in the Basic Form Builder to capture consistent dates that support scheduling, work tracking, and time-based reporting.

Date fields

A Date field captures a specific calendar date in a consistent format, so it can reliably support reporting and workflows.

Add a Date field

To add a new Date field in the Basic Form Builder:

  1. Create a new form using your preferred Basic Form Builder option.

    Build from Scratch.gif

  2. Add or select a Date field using the applicable method:
    • If a field already exists on the PDF: Select the field on your PDF. On the right side, in the Field panel, expand the Type dropdown menu and select Date.
    • If adding a new field: On the left, in the Add panel, drag a Date field onto your PDF.
  3. In the upper-right corner of the Builder, click Save, then Test the field, and click Publish and Assign to users.

Configure a Date field

Default, Style, Required, and Read Only settings for the Date field control how dates are formatted and displayed.

Date field settings

Default

The value that automatically appears when a user starts a new submission. The options include:

  • Current Date: Fills the field with today's date when a user starts a new submission. Users may select and change this to a different date.
  • No Default (Blank): Leaves the field empty and allows the user to select a date.
