Most admins will fill one seat at a time when adding users to their account. However, accounts with a large volume of new users may need the efficiency of adding those new users in bulk.
Bulk Upload Procedure
Follow these instructions so we can help you get up and running quickly.
- Download the GoCanvas Bulk User Sign Up file. This is an Excel .xlsx file type.
- Fill out the required fields and as many of the optional screens in this sheet. The required fields are:
- Email address of new user,
- First and Last name,
- Pricing plan,
- Your company name and the email address for the main admin of that account.
- Save a copy of this file and attach it to a Support ticket.
Note
GoCanvas will add your users within 24 hours and send you an email back to confirm.

Is there a way to specify you want the users to be single sign on (SSO)? Can we put in "Use SSO" for the "Manually Assign Password?" field?
Can we specify what departments they are added to?
Hi Chris Crowley
Thanks for your question! The second question regarding Departments is the easiest to answer: yes Departments can be determined for users by adding a column (or several if users need to be in more than one). The admin should create the departments prior to the bulk upload. Users can also be designated a default department (i.e. "First Department" that is automatically created when departments are enabled) to upload all of the users into, and the admin of the account can then allocate those users later.
As for the SSO question, there is no way to set up SSO through the Bulk User Upload process. Even though employees won't be using a password to login, a password will still need to be listed in the "Manually Assign Password?" column to avoid the automated email. If that column is left blank, it will deploy an email to all users to set their password, which would cause confusion. Admins will then have time to set up SSO before informing users to login using their SSO login.
