Emails sent from GoCanvas with a Custom Sender Email Address may not pass through your Mail Server’s security measures without first setting up DKIM.
What are SPF, DKIM, and DMARC?
SPF and DKIM are security mechanisms that ensure email is being sent from the party claiming to be the sender. DMARC is your mail server’s policy on what to do with SPF or DKIM violations.
Emails sent by GoCanvas are configured to pass SPF and DKIM checks. If you are using a Custom Sender Email Address, you will need to also set up DKIM to properly authorize GoCanvas to send emails on your behalf, otherwise your emails may wind up blocked or marked as spam.
Below are screenshots of the steps to inspect DMARC in Gmail.
- Select the stacked ellipsis in the upper right corner of the email.
- Select Show original.

How can my IT or Security Department enforce stricter DMARC settings?
There are a few options for enforcing stricter DMARC settings.
- Don’t use Custom Email Sender; gocanvas.com emails will pass SPF and DKIM.
- Register your DKIM domain with GoCanvas before using Custom Email Sender.
How do I get access to DKIM settings?
Contact your Account Manager to add DKIM to your plan and to set up DKIM for your domain.
