This article provides extra context for using the out-of-the-box Return on Investment Report.
The Return on Investment Report is an interactive report that will calculate your estimated annual impact and savings using your own operational cost information.
Return on Investment Report
Every business has operational costs that are seemingly unavoidable but very often are the first place that should be scrutinized when looking for cost-saving measures. You may have stumbled across GoCanvas in the course of that elusive pursuit. Because we know how important it is to forecast operational costs, GoCanvas provides a conservatively formulated ROI Calculator so you can project how much GoCanvas will save you over the course of a year.
How to Access the Report
There are two methods for accessing this Report: from the Dashboard or from the Reports page.
Dashboard
From the Dashboard, at the very top of the page, click Calculate.
Reports Page
Navigate to the Reports page, following the instructions based on your Account View.
Expand the Account drop down in the left navigation and select Reports.
At the top of the left navigation, expand the menu under the username indicating the current Department and switch to the All Department. Then expand the Account drop down in the left navigation and select Reports to run reports across the entire account.
Please note that the Department menu above Profile in the left navigation also has navigation to a Reports page that will run reports for the current Department.
Click your username at the bottom of the left navigation to expand the menu and select Reports.
At the top of the left navigation, expand the menu under the username indicating the current Department and switch to the All Department. Then expand the Account drop down in the left navigation and select Reports to run reports across the entire account.
Please note that clicking your username in the left navigation also has navigation to a Reports page that will run reports for the current Department.
Fill Out the Report
You'll have to click the hyperlink to the Return on Investment Report if you navigated here via the Reports page. The Calculate button on the Dashboard will automatically load this page.
You'll initially see the first section, Just the Basics, expanded and the Estimated Annual Impact & Savings panel on the right side of the page. More fields can be found by clicking each section to expand them or clicking Next at the bottom right of each section:
- Just the Basics,
- Paper Costs,
- Labor Costs,
- Regulatory, Compliance & Write-Off Costs.
The Estimated Annual Impact & Savings panel will update as the bare minimum amount of fields are filled-out for each calculation. Depending on how many fields you fill out, you will get calculations automatically for the following data points:
- Time Saved for Office Workers,
- Time Saved for Mobile Workers,
- Total Estimated Time Savings,
- Paper Savings,
- Labor Savings,
- Regulatory, Compliance & Write-Off Savings,
- Total Estimated Savings.
After completing all relevant fields to the best of your ability, click Save in the lower right corner of the page to maintain these values for the next time you want to review the Report. Click Cancel to exit the Report. A warning will pop-up to confirm that you wish to Quit Without Saving or Save. If you do choose to save, the only way to clear the values is manually.
