This article explains how to generate the Route button on mobile.

Mobile users can tap Route under an address field to open a map application with directions to the address already inputted.

Route

Route appears under fields labelled with keywords like 'address' or 'street' after an address is entered. Fields containing the following keywords will also be referenced by the map application of their choice:

  • Address or Address 2
  • Street or Street 2
  • Line 1 or Line 2
  • City
  • State
  • Zip Code, Postal Code, or Post Code
  • Locality
  • Town
  • Region
  • Province
  • County
  • Territory

This feature is especially helpful in combination with Reference Data and Dispatch, so Admins, Designers, and Dispatchers can provide an address and the mobile user is a few taps away from getting directions to that location.

A few specifications to be aware of:

  • Only works for Short or Long Text fields
  • Does not work on the Labels Left screen Style, Key Field screens, or Tables
  • Android will show any map application on the device
  • iOS devices will only show Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze
