Auto Sync is a feature in the GoCanvas Android and iOS applications that will automatically upload submissions once the device regains internet coverage.

Auto Sync

Users are required to Sync their device to upload the completed submission. If users don't have access to the internet when a submission is completed, they will need to manually Sync once coverage is regained.

With Auto Sync, your reports will upload to GoCanvas automatically when you have access to data or wifi. 

Enable Auto Sync

To enable Auto Sync on either an Android or iOS device:

1. Launch the GoCanvas application.
2. Navigate to Settings:
   • If already logged in: In the lower-right corner of the screen, tap Profile.
   • If not logged in: At the bottom of the screen, tap More Options and select App Settings.
3. Tap Settings.
4. Tap to turn on Auto Sync.

Changes are automatically applied so you can safely navigate away from Settings once finished.

A few things to keep in mind

There are a few subtle differences in how this feature functions on Android vs iOS.

Android

• As long as the GoCanvas app is open or in the background, GoCanvas will detect when you have coverage and upload your submissions automatically.
• If you force close out of GoCanvas, your submissions will not upload until you relaunch the app.

iOS

• iOS only allows certain apps to run in the background for up to 180 seconds.
• If GoCanvas is in the background, it will attempt to upload your submissions for as long as the limit allows.
• If the limit has passed, GoCanvas will automatically upload your submissions the next time you are actively using GoCanvas and have coverage.
