Issue:
Users may encounter an Error 999 when attempting to log in. This error is commonly caused by complications with an assigned Workflow, Dispatch, or other task on the user’s device.
Solution:
There are two approaches to resolving this issue:
- An Admin Unassigns and Reassigns Tasks:
The user’s administrator can unassign any recently assigned dispatches or tasks. After this, the user should sync their account to verify if the issue is resolved. The admin can then reassign the tasks back to the user. - Clear Data on the User’s Device: (NOT RECOMMENDED)
Clearing data will remove any pending or unsaved submissions on the device, so please proceed with caution.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Method 1: Unassign Tasks via Work Hub
Admins or Dispatchers should follow these steps:
See full details here: How To Edit, Reassign, and Delete Tasks from Work Hub
- Log in to gocanvas.com with an Administrator account.
- Navigate to Work Hub or Projects, depending on your version of GoCanvas.
- Locate tasks that have been assigned to the affected user
- Unassign all tasks from the affected user.
- Instruct the user to sync their application.
- Once login is successful, the admin can reassign the tasks.
- It is best to assign tasks one at a time, or a few at a time, and have the user sync between assignments. This will indicate if there is a specific task still causing an issue.
Note
If the issue persists, please contact Support
Method 2: Clear Data
Please note that this action will permanently delete all saved or pending data on the device.
Use only if necessary.
Detailed steps are available here: Clearing Data in your GoCanvas Application
- Load GoCanvas on the device that is having the issue
- From the GoCanvas login screen, tap the More menu (top right corner) and select Clear Data from the menu or the question mark option
- Alternatively, you can tap the question mark icon next to your email.
- A confirmation pop-up will appear and you will need to confirm to proceed.
- Once the data is cleared, the email field will become editable and a sync will happen upon logging in.
Conclusion
If everything went according to plan, the affected user can now log into their account with all of their tasks and data intact (provided they did not clear data). However, if you find that there are specific tasks that are causing an issue, unassign those tasks and please contact Support for further assistance.
