GoCanvas GPS Error Troubleshooting

The GoCanvas GPS Field uses a device's location settings to provide a GPS location for GoCanvas. Sometimes, the location settings or GoCanvas application permissions prevent the GPS Feature from working properly. This article will discuss ways to troubleshoot the GPS feature within the GoCanvas application.

Troubleshooting steps

1. Ensure Location Services on your device are enabled.
2. Ensure GoCanvas has permission to access your device's location services.
3. (Administrator Step) Reset GPS Field Advanced Settings:
   • Accuracy(m): 100
   • Timeout(ms): 10000
   • Force Accuracy: Off

Reset GPS Field Settings

1. An administrator should log into gocanvas.com
2. Access the Forms page
3. Locate the form in question
4. Edit the form
5. Locate the GPS field
6. Change the Advanced Settings for the field as noted above

Device Troubleshooting Steps

1. Restart the Device
   • By restart, I mean shutting the device down, waiting 30 seconds, and then turning it back on.
2. Verify the device has a STRONG signal and manually Sync
   • Connect to Wi-Fi if possible. Mobile Data may drop during the process and on return, making the connection unstable.
   • To manually sync, once you have logged in, tap the Sync Icon in the corner. It looks like a refresh symbol. Do this even if you completed a Sync during login.
   • Completing a Sync may download data you didn't have before, which could help resolve the issue.
3. Try a new device
   • This may be an isolated issue with a specific device or device type. Another device of the same make would also work, but if you find the other device has the same issue, a new device type is suggested.
4. Update GoCanvas
   • GoCanvas may be outdated; please verify that GoCanvas on your device is up to date with the most current version available on your app store.
   • Go to gocanvas.com/m to manually download the latest version of GoCanvas for your device.
