Why does my Advanced Submission search show duplicate fields?

The issue

When using Advanced Search to find a submission for one of your forms, you may notice that one or more fields on the selected screen appear duplicated.

This occurs when a field has been deleted in one version of your form and then recreated on the same screen in another version of your form. The reason they are duplicated is that each field has a unique ID on the server. When you create a new field with the same name, it also receives a new unique ID.

Can I remove the duplicate fields?

No, you can't remove the duplicate fields from appearing in the Advanced Search on the existing form.

The Resolution

There are two options for handling the duplicate fields that appear on the Advanced Search.

  • Understandingd which field you need will help you locate the submissions you are looking for. There isn't a way to remove the duplicate fields from appearing. So, leaving things as they are is an option.
  • You can start the form over by creating a copy. However, the submissions from the original are not carried over to the new copy. The new copy will be a unique form with no ties to the original. Additionally, depending on the integrations you have and their configuration, they may not be copied over.
