Capture Signatures on Mobile

Have more questions? Submit a request

With GoCanvas you can quickly and easily capture signatures on your mobile device.

Signatures

Once captured, the signature is uploaded to our servers and will be visible when viewing your submission in your browser or in the PDF. In addition, the signatures can also be downloaded via our Web Services API.

Adding the field is the same in either the Builder or the Legacy Builder.

  1. To add signature capture, go to the Forms page and Edit an existing form, or select Create New if your form has not already been created.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the the Field Library to the Multimedia section.
  3. Click to add or drag and drop a Signature field into the center workspace.

GoCanvas Tip

Use Smart Field Recognition in the Builder to add a signature field by selecting + ADD FIELD in the center workspace and type "signature" and enter on your keyboard to add the field quickly. You can rename it something more specific after it's in the form.

Capturing a Signature

If a signature has not been captured, you will see that the signature capture box reads "Capture Signature" in black text.

Tapping the field will automatically rotate your device to landscape in order to provide a larger signature area. Tap Done to save the signature, the X in the upper left corner will exit the capture area and the signature will not be saved.

Once the signature is captured, the field will read "Signature Captured" in green. Users can tap the field to view the signature or Clear and start again.

Finger vs. Stylus

On many devices, you can sign with either your finger or a stylus. A signature initiated with a finger is completely acceptable, but for those who would like a stylus to offer their clients to sign we recommend this one.
