This article explains Form Visible, the Advanced Field Setting that hides fields from the user completing a submission.
Admins and Designers can turn off Form Visible to hide fields in a form that are needed for advanced form building concepts that would otherwise confuse or clutter the form.
Form Visible
Some fields perform important functions but don’t need to appear on the form. Hiding them keeps the form clean while allowing those fields to complete background tasks, such as the calculations needed to attain a specific result.
To see several examples of this concept:
- Calculating Age in the Advanced Form Builder
- Calculating Time with 15 Minute Increments in the Advanced Form Builder
Configure Form Visible
To turn off Form Visible in the Advanced Form Builder:
- On the right side of the Forms page, in line with the form you wish to edit, click Edit to open the Advanced Form Builder.
- Add an applicable field (detailed below) using your preferred method.
- In the center workspace, select the field to open the Field Settings in the left panel.
-
Expand the Advanced dropdown menu and click to turn off Form Visible.
- In the upper-right corner of the Builder, click Save, then Test the field, and click Publish and Assign to users.
Please Note
Fields that have Form Visible turned off are removed from the Preview panel and the Test in browser feature but are not indicated in the center workspace.
Compatible fields
Form Visible is compatible with most field types with some caveats. It's unsupported on several fields and supported but not recommended on others. Please refer to the chart below for specifics:
| Unsupported Field Types | Supported and Recommended | Supported and Not Recommended |

Use this setting to hide supported, recommended fields that are used internally or automate background form processes. Hiding unnecessary fields reduces confusion by showing users only the fields they need to complete the form.
Do not turn off Form Visible for fields that require user interaction, even if the setting supports it. If users cannot see a field, they cannot interact with it.
Note
GPS fields can also be hidden but the setting is called Hidden and is located under the Required toggle in Field Settings.
