GoCanvas provides Admins the ability to control the destiny of partially completed submissions by moving the submission forward in its process from the Unfinished Tab in Work Hub.
Unfinished Tab
When a user that is connected to the internet completes a submission, the submission will sync with the GoCanvas servers and arrive as a submission to the portal or will pass to the next person in the workflow.
However, when a user is in the process of submitting and their device suddenly disconnects from the internet, those submissions can get lost, or "stuck," on the GoCanvas backend. Previously, the only recourse for users was to submit a ticket to Support to release the submission.
Now, with the Unfinished Tab in Work Hub, admins will be able to view the data that did manage to sync to the cloud and determine if the submission is complete enough to continue or if they want the user to try again when connected to the internet.
On this page, admins will see:
- The Form Name,
- The Submitter,
- The Submission Name/ID
- Submission Date,
- Status, which will be Partial Sync.
Selecting the hyperlink of the form name will open a page that shows the raw submission data that managed to upload to the cloud, including placeholders for the data that did not manage to upload. Additionally, admins can view what managed to generate into the PDF by selecting the PDF icon at the right of the row.
In order to manually move a submission forward, simply check the box next to the submission(s) you wish to move forward and select the Fast Forward icon that appears at the top left of the page, under the Work Hub page tabs. All submissions that have been selected will either be completed or move on to the next step in their workflow.
The text of the tool tip that appears when you hover over the Fast Forward icon is: “These submissions are in an unfinished or stuck state, where they have partially synced the available data from the user’s device to the cloud. Please ask the submitter to try and re-sync their device again or you can manually move the submission forward in your process.”
Additionally, admins can also delete a partially synced submission by selecting the check box next to the submission(s) you wish to delete and select the Trash Can icon that appears between the checkbox and the Fast Forward icon at the top left of the page.
Partial Sync on Mobile
When the mobile user disconnects from the internet in the middle of a sync, they will receive a warning that they have “submissions that did not finish uploading,” and a push notification indicating that there has been an error and the “network connection was lost.”
Once connected to the internet again, the user will receive an email and a push notification indicating that the partially synced submission has been finished.
Please submit a ticket to Support if you have an issue, or provide valuable feedback to our Product team at beta@gocanvas.com.
