This article provides instructions for the 3 methods of obtaining a blank copy of your PDF plus tips for achieving results.
Depending on the stage of development of designing a new PDF or editing an existing PDF, there are several methods for obtaining a blank version.
Methods for Accessing Blank PDFs
Complete a Blank Submission
This method is the best option for guaranteeing a completely blank PDF. Keep in mind that Required fields must have values in order to progress in the form so you may need to remove the requirements before using this method.
- Open the GoCanvas application on your device.
- Log in and Sync your device.
- Start a new submission of the form.
- Leave all fields empty as you work through the submission.
- Submit the form as usual.
- Download the completed submission PDF from the web portal.
Display Fields in the PDF
If you are using the method above, keep in mind that some fields may utilize the Show This Field on PDF setting to hide fields under predetermined circumstances. If this is the case, be sure to change this setting to Always before attempting to create a blank submission.
To learn more about adjusting this setting, please see, "What is Show This Field on PDF in the Advanced Form Builder?"
From the Form Settings Page
- From the left navigation, click Forms.
- Click the name of the form you wish to preview or the settings gear to open Form Settings.
-
Under Quick Links, click PDF Preview.
-
In the upper right corner, click Download.
Preview from the PDF Designer
- From the left navigation, click Forms.
- Click the Edit PDF icon associated with the form you wish to preview.
-
In the upper right corner, click Preview.
-
In the upper right corner, click Download.
Please Note
Previewing the PDF from either the Form Settings page or the PDF Designer will generate a PDF that is populated with the most recent data. If no data is available (like when a form is new with no submissions), it will generate a blank PDF.
