This article provides information about how to customize your Standard PDF from the Form Settings > PDF Options and from within the Form Builder.
The Standard PDF ensures every submission automatically generates a consistent, professional output for any form with limited customization to streamline setup.
Standard PDF customization
Admins and Designers can customize the Standard PDF on a form-by-form basis, either from the Form Settings or from within the Form Builders.
PDF Options
Navigate to the Form Settings > PDF Options to customize a specific form's Standard PDF:
- In the left navigation, click Forms.
- Click the hyperlink of the form name or the gear associated with the form to open Form Settings.

Under Settings, locate PDF Options and click Settings.
- Once on the PDF Options page, you can edit any of the following settings:
Please Note
Whatever you customize on a form-by-form basis will override whatever you do in Account Settings.
Standard PDF Logo
The Standard PDF Logo is an easy and quick opportunity to brand your Standard PDF. Images must by JPEG or PNG format and less than 5MB in size, for best results. If you already have a Logo, it will be displayed here.
- On the PDF Options page, locate Standard PDF Logo and click Update Logo to open your computer's file manager.
- Double-click the desired file.

On the Custom Icon dialogue, use the control points to Crop the logo.
- Once you're satisfied with the Preview of your logo, click Save.
If the size of your logo is not working, see, "Resize your logo for the Standard PDF Header" for instructions for resizing images on Mac and Windows operating systems.
PDF Header
Use the PDF Header to provide contact details to the recipient of the Standard PDF.
- On of the right side of the PDF Options page, in line with PDF Header, click the edit icon to open the PDF Header page.

Enter the information you want to appear in the header section of the PDF in the text box.
- The checkbox Show this date in the header? is selected by default.
- Expand the Choose Date dropdown menu and select one of the following:
- Submission Date refers to the date that the submission was uploaded to your GoCanvas account.
- Capture Date refers to the date that the submission was marked as done or complete on the mobile device.
- Download Date refers to the date the PDF was downloaded.
- Click Save.
PDF Font Sizes
Use PDF Font Sizes to determine the text size of the PDF body and titles.
- On the right side of the PDF Options page, in line with PDF Font Sizes, click the edit icon to open the PDF Font Sizes page.

Expand the Font size to be used for the PDF body dropdown menu.
Select one of the following options:
- 6
- 8
- 10
- 12
- Expand the Font size to be used for the PDF titles dropdown menu and select one of the following options:
- 6
- 8
- 10
- 12
- 14
- Click Save.
PDF Date Format
There are several options for PDF Date Format so you can set it to your preference. The default or current choice will be displayed in the phrase under the section title.
- On the right side of the PDF Options page, in line with PDF Date Format, click the edit icon to open the PDF Date Format page.

Expand the Please specify the date format for the PDF header and footer dropdown menu.
Select one of the following options:
- MM/DD/YYYY
- DD/MM/YYYY
- YYYY/MM/DD
- Click Save.
PDF Language
Currently, GoCanvas offers two PDF Languages: Standard (i.e. Latin alphabet) or Chinese. The default or current choice will be displayed in the phrase under the section title.
- On the right side of the PDF Options page, in line with PDF Language, click the edit icon to open the PDF Language page.

Expand the Please choose the language for your PDFs dropdown menu.
Select one of the following options:
- Standard
- Chinese
- Click Save.
PDF Lines
PDF Lines have several options to create visual separation on the Standard PDF.
- On the right side of the PDF Options page, in line with PDF Lines, click the edit icon to open the PDF Lines page.

Select the checkbox for your desired options:
- Show line under screen titles?
- Show line under screen (to end the screen)?
- Show line between field descriptions and their values?
- Click Save.
Hide Conditional Screens and Fields
Hide Conditional Screens and Fields is a simple checkbox. The default or current choice will be displayed in the phrase under the section title.
- On the right side of the PDF Options page, in line with Hide Conditional Screens and Fields, click the edit icon to open the page.

The checkbox Hide Conditional Screens and Fields that were not visited or seen in the form? is selected by default.
Deselect the checkbox to show all conditional screens and fields.
- Click Save.
Field and Screen Settings
Admins and Designers can customize the Standard PDF from within the Form Builders. Follow the instructions below for the Advanced Form Builder but these settings are also available in the Basic Form Builder.
Show This Field on PDF
Follow these steps for each field that will only show on the PDF under specific circumstances:
- In the left navigation, click Forms.
- On the right side of the page, in line with the form you wish to edit, click the Edit icon.
- Select the field in the center workspace to open Field Settings in the left panel.
- Expand the Advanced menu.

Expand the Show This Field on PDF dropdown menu.
- Select one of the following options from the dropdown menu:
Don't forget to Save, Publish, and Assign the form to users.
Show all fields on PDF
Follow these steps for each screen that will only show on the PDF under specific circumstances:
- In the left navigation, click Forms.
- On the right side of the page, in line with the form you wish to edit, click the Edit icon.
- Select the screen in the center workspace to open Screen Settings in the left panel.

Under Standard, expand the Show all fields on PDF dropdown menu.
- Select one of the follow options from the dropdown menu:
Don't forget to Save, Publish, and Assign the form to users.
