Hide Fields within a Form in the Builder

You may want a field in your form that isn't visible to your mobile users. Using the Mobile Visible setting, you can choose which fields your users can and can't see when filling out a form.

Mobile Visible

Mobile Visible is compatible with most field types with some caveats. Mobile Visible is unsupported on several fields and supported but not recommended on others. Please refer to the chart below for specifics:

Unsupported Field Types Supported and Recommended Supported and Not Recommended
  • Attachment
  • Checkbox
  • Drawing
  • Signature
  • Static Image
  • Calculation
  • Date
  • Link
  • Mirror
  • Number
  • Static Text
  • Text
  • Time
  • Barcode
  • Dropdown
  • Multiple Choice
  • Pass/Fail
  • Photo
  • Rating
  • Single Choice

The field types that are both supported and recommended may be used for internal use only or to automate something in the background of the form that the user does not need to see. This setting is great for reducing confusion in the field so the user only sees the fields that they need to in order to complete the form and nothing they don't need to see.

It is not recommended to turn off Mobile Visible on fields that are primarily for user interaction, even if the setting is technically supported. If the user cannot see the field to interact with it, than making it invisible is impractical.

Mobile Visible can be configured by selecting a field in the center workspace to open the Field Settings in the left panel and expanding the Advanced menu. Toggle Mobile Visible to OFF and Save changes.

Note

GPS fields can also be hidden but the setting is called Hidden and is located under the Required toggle in Field Settings.
