HIPAA Compliance
For users who would like to know more about how GoCanvas handles data privacy and protection please reference our Privacy Policy.
Our basic settings provide great security, but you can also enable HIPAA certification, giving you the highest level security necessary to manage critical patient information. GoCanvas is utilized by numerous health care workers including hospitals, doctors, nurses and home health care providers.
- Incorporating auto-logoffs and session timeout to prevent information leaks due to lost or unsecured devices.
- Disabling auto-email features to prevent accidental disclosure of sensitive information.
- Increased usage of logging and checksums to validate that data has not been manipulated.
- The Unsecured Access permission for Photo and Video fields is prohibited and hidden from the Builder.
Enabling HIPAA
Enabling HIPAA is as simple as flipping a switch.
Navigate to the Account Settings page following the instructions based on your Account View.
Expand the Account drop down in the left navigation and select Account Settings.
At the top of the left navigation, expand the menu under the username indicating the current Department and switch to the All Department. Then expand the Account drop down in the left navigation and select Account Settings.
Click your username at the bottom of the left navigation to expand the menu and select Account.

- Scroll to Security Setting to find HIPAA Compliance.
- Click the grey toggle to turn HIPAA Compliance ON.
