    Good News, Curtis!

    We have just released a Save to Cloud feature, which allows users to save work on a Submission so it can be continued later on the same mobile device OR another mobile device. This function also allows submissions to persist through clearing data in GoCanvas and uninstalling GoCanvas from a mobile device.

  • Hi Curtis,

    You could just workflow to yourself and pick it up on the other device. You'd want your workflow settings to allow editing (Next user can edit existing data), and just have the handoff sent to yourself. The trick there is knowing where you need the handoff to be, but you'd need that in order to use workflow regardless. Would that work for your use case?

    So I tried the workflow feature for the first time and encountered a couple of roadblocks that prevent this workaround from working as I'd hoped:

    1. You can't use workflow if you have the Table of Contents feature enabled. 

    2.Workflow is an enforced process. The end user does not have a choice to skip the handoff submission, when applicable (the workaround is to send to oneself which creates alot of extra unnecessary steps).

    3. There needs to be an administrative option for enabling an end user to delete a handoff

    I'll continue experimenting. Any feedback is highly appreciated.

    For the second one, if you have an idea where the handoff might need to occur, you could do a conditional workflow (https://help.gocanvas.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360007815353-Can-I-have-something-go-to-a-workflow-based-on-a-condition-). That's pretty effective once or twice, but gets pretty cluttered going beyond that. 

    Not sure if anyone has other potential work-arounds on this, but great feedback and feature request!

    It may be too scary, but for the third one, depending on your desired outcome you could potentially use a Zapier integration to look at hand-offs or submissions and use the delete action.  It would take an exact-match type logic, attention to detail, planning, and testing, but could potentially be used with the app itself or even a different app.  I'm not 100% sure it would work, but it might be worth trying with a test app or two.
