Taking Multiple Pictures, editing dropdowns and Editing Mirrored Fields

Here are some of the features I would love to see added to Go Canvas.

  • The option to take multiple pictures at one time, then to upload them straight into a photo field. At the moment, pictures taken need to be added one by one, and in a report with 200 photos this is a slow process.
  • Can you add an option to edit reference data used in dropdown boxes on the device (only changed on singular report)? We want to be able to tailor our comments to specific issues, and this would be a big help.
  • To make report summary write ups more effective, an option to edit mirror fields would be a great addition to the mirror feature.

  • Jade Ford McPharlin thank you for your comment! The first bullet point can partially be accomplished with Multi-Photo Photo Fields. These allow up to 10 images to be added to one field and users can select those 10 images from their gallery to add at once. Taking each photo individually would take longer but the Multi-Photo field does improve this slightly.

Reference Data drop down options can only be edited if the Style of the drop down field is set to Editable within the form builder field settings. This setting also now works with Reference Data in the Builder as well as in the Legacy Builder. In the Builder, it is a toggle in the field settings modal.

I'm not entirely sure I understand the value of editing a Mirror Field, could you explain it a bit more? The purpose of a Mirror field is to simply reflect data entered earlier in the form. Perhaps a workaround to editing the Mirror field itself is to mirror a field and then provide a comment box underneath to add context or updates if information has changed since the data shown in the Mirror field has changed through the course of filling out the form. Or simply turning on Table of Contents, granted that Workflow is not also enabled, so that the user can jump back to the page with the field that is being mirrored so they can edit it from the source. But any details you can provide to how this would benefit your users is helpful for us to better weigh feature requests!

Please let me know if you have any further questions or clarifications needed for the information provided above!

  • Hi Lauren

    Thank you for your reponse.

    Point 1: Multi-Photo Fields Efficiency

Issue: The process of adding photos one by one in a multichoice field is slow and cumbersome, especially when dealing with a large number of photo fields.

    Solution:

    1. Continuous Photo Capture Mode: Introduce a continuous capture mode where users can take several photos consecutively without needing to go back and forth between camera, save photo, camera icon, and taking photos.

    Point 2: Editable Dropdown Fields

Issue: The dropdown choices are not editable, which limits the flexibility of the reports. A one time comment can be added to the dropdown field yes, but editing the dropdown choices is not something you offer.

    Solution:

    1. Allow users to add and edit dropdown choices directly within the app. This can be achieved by adding an "edit existing' dropdown feature within the dropdown menu.

Point 3: Mirrored Field for Summarizing Findings

Issue: Summarizing findings into one field and making it editable for better readability and utility.

    Solution:

    1. Summary Field Feature: Introduce a mirrored or summary field that aggregates data from multiple fields. This field should be editable, allowing users to adjust and refine the summary as needed. The purpose of a summary is "a brief statement or account of the main points of something.". The value is in creating a more effective process for users. Users will have all the information they need for the summary in one place, and can cut and change the summary of report as required.

If you need more detailed information or assistance with specific aspects of these solutions, feel free to ask!
