This article provides detailed information about how to activate, build, access, and manage Public Forms, also known as Web Forms.

Admins and Designers can use Public Forms to centralize processes, collect data faster, and share forms easier, without requiring a login to fill out the form.

Public Forms

Public Forms allow you to send a form to your customers, vendors, peers, etc. that can be filled out without logging into the GoCanvas application or Web Client. The forms are shareable via a unique URL that can be re-generated at any time.

  • Manage and share forms safely with built-in security features that keep all your data protected
  • Easily customize PDFs for sharing and storing, no page limits
  • Personalize your documents with your company's logo to keep your identity consistent

Accessing Public Forms

The Public Form Builder is accessible in the same place as the Basic and Advanced Form Builders, regardless of your Account View.

  1. In the left navigation, click Forms.

  2. In the upper-right corner of the Forms page, expand Create New and select Public Form.

Note

Public Forms will not automatically appear in the Create New dropdown menu. Please reach out to your Account Representative to learn more about adding Public Forms to your account.

Public Forms building basics

Once inside the Public Form Builder, you'll notice that the layout is the same at the Advanced Form Builder, with a few distinctions.

Additionally, Reference Data cannot be attached to fields in Public Forms.

Preview panel

The Preview on the right side of the workspace is designed to look like a web page, not a mobile phone.

  2. At the top of the Forms page, click Web Forms.

API compatibility

Regardless of the source of a submission, it looks exactly the same on the backend. All submissions on mobile, from the Web Client, or from a Public Form are accessible through the API. To learn more about GoCanvas API v3, see, "Does GoCanvas have an open API?"
