Dropdown fields have a unique settings that allows users to add choices on mobile.
Editable Dropdown Fields
The Dropdown field in the Builder is a very versatile field type that allows form builders to provide a list of acceptable responses within a form. However, some use cases may require users to provide responses that are not already available in the dropdown list. The setting to allow this is Add choices on mobile.
This setting also works with dropdown fields that are powered by Reference Data.
- Add a Dropdown field to your form or locate an existing one.
- Select the field in the center workspace to open the Field Settings in the left panel.
- Expand the Choices menu and click the grey toggle beside Add choices on mobile to allow users to create their own choices when completing a submission on mobile.
- Save and Publish.
Using an Editable Dropdown Field
- Open up the GoCanvas application on your mobile device and make sure that the latest form updates are synced to your device.
- Start a new submission.
- Tap the the dropdown field to open up the list of choices.
- Tap the + button in the upper right corner of the the screen.
- Type in the new value.
- Tap Apply.
Note
Adding a value to an editable drop down only applies to the current submission. It will not show up as an option for other users or on future submissions unless added manually to the choices or reference data.
