A Template is a static copy of a GoCanvas form that does not transmit down to a mobile device, but can act as a starting point for a new GoCanvas form.
Creating a Template
An alternative to copying a form, templates are great for easily reproducing a complicated PDF layout or field and screen settings that are needed in multiple forms without the hassle of deleting and reformatting a copy of an existing form to suit your needs every time.
- Navigate to the Forms page.
- Select the name of the form you want to create a template of or the Settings gear to go to the Form Settings page.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and in the Actions area, select Create Template.
Copying a Form from a Template
- Navigate to the Forms page.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page to the section titled Templates and select View and a list of your templates will appear on the next page.
- Select the Create Form icon, between Edit and Delete on the right, to create a copy of the form from the template.
Editing a Template
Templates are also editable. Making edits to the template does not affect the original form nor does it affect any forms that were already created using the template. These edits will only affect all forms made from the template going forward.
On the same page as where you create a form from the template, select Edit and the Legacy Builder will launch, regardless of whether the original form was built in the Builder.
