For my use case I need the same app to be accessed and stored under multiple folders within a department's apps. The issue that has occurred is department admins have copied the "master app" to be able to populate in other folders and now there is a new app number that cannot feed into the analytics platform.
This limit in architecture dictates the way each of business units within larger departments are able to store and access their daily use apps.

Hey Luke,
This sounds similar to the Google Shared Drive functionality, would that be a good comparison or am I misunderstanding? Thank you for clarifying!
Thank you for your response. The issue can be demonstrated below:
https://www.gocanvas.com/forms/4301768?folder_id=19494
Where 4301768 is the app ID, and 19494 is the folder ID, I need the app ID, 4301768, to be present in multiple folder ids within a given department.
Thank you
Thank you for clarifying, Luke! And could you clarify why you need the same app in multiple folders within a department? Since our apps don't work like Google Shared documents, I'm thinking that restructuring your organization structure may be the best way to mitigate your concerns much faster than we may be able to provide a product update to address this concern.
Thank you again Lauren. I don't think we are exactly on the same page yet. It may be best if we move this conversation into email correspondence or feel free to call me.
Thank you,
Hey Luke,
I would be happy to take this to email so we can consolidate the post to just the essential pieces of the request to make sure I am relaying your needs accurately. The reason I am comparing this request to Google Shared documents is because my understanding is you need the app to show up in multiple folders but you need all submissions made to the app to all flow to the same place, specifically analytics. Similar to how when an edit is made in a shared document, those edits can be accessed by everyone who has the document shared to them, regardless of if they moved it to their own drive for better accessibility.
Once an app is split in GoCanvas, all submissions, and app edits, become unique to the split or copied version of the app and are no longer connected in the backend. If your department admins are making copies simply for the visual effect of seeing that app in a specific folder, that would be fine. But no one should make submissions from the copied versions of the app and everyone would need to know to make submissions from the app that actually connects to the analytics, because those apps are now considered unique entities in GoCanvas.
If they are making copies because they need the submissions to be unique to the folder they are in, than that isn't much like Google Shared documents and would require that all those apps are mapped to feed into analytics separately. So understanding why the app needs to be stored in multiple folders within a department will help me understand the request better.
Thank you again Lauren,
I work within an organization that in our true organization format has 5 major division, 3-5 districts within each division, and nearly 300 local business units that currently have GoCanvas users registered at them. It is unlikely that I can manipulate GoGanvas departments within the 1 subfolder level per department constraint to be able to match our true org structure. What I truly need is for multiple folders to contain or point to the same app, the exact same app, so that when they access through their specific folder, they use the master app, and the data comes into the correct data set so that analytics can see it.
I'm not asking to merge two apps, I just need my single master app to be visible in more than one folder per department.
Original App location:

Also needs to be seen in:

If this cannot be accomplished, please let me know, but this is the need I have to address.
Not a problem at all, Luke! I do believe that the way I was interpreting your needs was close to accurate and I appreciate your time and patience in clarifying your request. Thank you!
I will be sure to relay this request with the given context and explanation.
