Hide entire page of PDF, like screen conditions.

Just like it says, can an entire page of a PDF (made with PDF designer) be hidden? I have a form with several pages with fields that can end up entirely hidden, but I still end up with pages in the final PDF that includes a section header but nothing else.

    Hi Bob Schaefer!

Thanks for posting to the Community! This can actually be accomplished by using conditional fields in the form itself instead of using the Text element in the PDF Designer. The article, "Color-Coding Conditional Fields in the PDF Designer" sort of has a similar solution, but not exactly as it's more complicated than what you need.

Essentially, we are using a Static Text field in the form that is on the conditional screen and using that field to format it like the other headers on the PDF. That way, it does not show if the screen is not triggered. If you're using Auto-Layout, simply delete the header that is automatically created with the title of the screen and replace it with the static text field that is conditional in the form. I hope this makes sense but please feel free to clarify anything that is unclear!

  • Deleting the header elements of the page I want to print conditionally deletes the elements from all the page headers. Do I need to manually create a header for each page?

  • Bob Schaefer,

If I'm understanding you correctly, you have multiple conditional screens that need conditional headers. For every conditional screen, you will need to recreate the header using a static text field in the form. That field can be formatted in the PDF Designer using color backgrounds and text orientation to mimic a header that is automatically created by Auto-Layout. Those headers are just text elements with some color formatting so they can be recreated manually.

Please let me know if I'm misinterpreting your question!
