It would be very nice to be able to use System Defaults (i.e. username, company name, first name, last name, full name) and other field values as reference fields for dependent reference data. This would allow us to dynamically change app / output behavior based on the currently logged in user, or based on the current value of a field.
For instance, if we had reference data with Full Name, Employee Number, Phone Number, Address, etc., we could add a short text field for Full Name and set it to use the Full Name system default (in Field Settings > More). Then we could add an Employee Number field and set it to use the reference data file with the Employee Number reference column and the Full Name field as the reference field... then the employee number would auto-populate for the currently logged in user.
Another example might be: if we had reference data with Widget Number, Serial Number, Part Number, etc. we could add a field that would allow the user to type in or use a bar code scanner to populate the serial number. Then we could add a Part Number field and set it to use the reference data file with the Part Number reference column and the Serial Number field as the reference field... then the part number would auto-populate when the serial number was entered (if there was a match).
