weblink - hypertext "file://" scheme

I want to be able to create a weblink using the "file://" URL scheme/protocol.  I do not want to use a web repository like OneDrive or DropBox.  Network drives are fully within local control and access can be controlled more easily and can be accessed much faster.  Proprietary information can be better controlled.  The weblink in gocanvas does not allow for the file: URL scheme such as file://companyname.com/virtual-network-drive-path/reference-file.jpg

GoCanvas doesn't allow the file: scheme and when I try to enter it the field is changed back to the default "http//www.gocanvas.com"

  • Hi Brett,

Thanks for reaching out with this feedback! To my understanding, we don't currently support the "file://" scheme because it isn't platform agnostic. I believe it may work successfully on some platforms, but not others. Just wanted to provide some insight on the limitations I currently know of. I'll report back here if I learn anything else, and I appreciate you sharing this idea!

    All the best,

    Siobhan
