    Hi Dylan,

I previously posted something similar. You can see it by following this link:

    https://help.gocanvas.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360019331793-Alternative-PDF-creation-options

There are several other posts out there that are similar.

FYI. I don't work for GoCanvas. I'm just a user. Been dabbling since 2013.

I've been told that I am one of the people who is continually taking GoCanvas to extreme edges of it's capabilities. Personally, I don't feel like I am doing that. Especially not after I've seen what others are doing with it. There are people out there doing some really amazing things with it.

I've tried a lot of different apps including Device Magic. There are several Apps out there that I wish I could marry all together and make one "Super App" that does everything I need.

In the grand scheme of things, this is still a really new space. While it might seem like they've been around forever, the smart phone was only introduced just 11 years ago. Of course, there were things like Blackberries and PDA before that but the iPhone (love it or hate it) did take the platform to a whole new level. When smart phones actually became main stream (when even grandma and grandpa got one) is debatable but it really wasn't that long ago.

The fact that Device Magic can output to many different formats like word, excel, etc is really great feature. However, I did not find their UI (user interface) very friendly. With them, I found myself continually being channeled into a custom build scenario where I would have to pay them more for a customization. Then I would wait, wait, wait... for them to do it.

Then, if I needed to make changes, I had to rely on them to do it and wait even longer.

The GoCanvas App builder is a lot more intuitive than Device Magic, in my opinion. Although, I must say I haven't seen Device Magic's platform in more than a year (or two).

Just like Device Magic, the great folks at GoCanvas will build a custom output for you, if that is what you really need.

However, with GoCanvas and Zapier Integration, your options are pretty much limitless. The only limit is your time and imagination.

    No customization required.

Until they invent the "Super app", I would recommend looking into empowering your GoCanvas Apps with Zapier Integration.

Zapier (www.zapier.com) offers a free service if you want to try it out. Of course, to unlock the full potential you will need to pay for a Professional Plan. It's relatively inexpensive compared to a lot of other things in this space. (Hundreds, not thousands of dollars per year).

GoCanvas is continually making changes to make things better. Stick around for a while and maybe you will see your feature requests become a reality! I have! (Thanks GoCanvas Team!)

In this new space, GoCanvas is definitely the front runner to become the "Super App" we are all looking for. They've come a really long way already.

  • Hi Dylan,

Thank you for this feedback -- and thank you, Keith, for your thoughtful reply! I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with GoCanvas and for sharing a little bit about Zapier, which is indeed a powerful tool with endless opportunities.

That being said, we truly value this type of feedback to help us take GoCanvas to the next level. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us.

    All the best,

    Siobhan

Thanks for your replies. I do use Zaiper for multiple integrations, which has proven to be very helpful. However, there are times where I just want a PDF E-Mailed to me without having to do anything more. -Thanks, Dylan
