In desperate need for custom user permissions/roles. I would like to see the ability to create a new role type and assign what permissions the role has access to i.e. New role can only see workflows and submissions and CANNOT edit apps.

Any updates? This is a big problem!
Specifically allowing users access to workflow without allowing them to create/edit apps
Hi Joseph,
Thanks for voicing your support for this feature request. I do not have an update on this request as of now but our product team is always thinking ahead for our future product roadmaps and this support helps inform their focus.
Lauren Sunday this is one of the most commented topics you have on this forum. It has been 3+ years since this was first requested. Each time someone from your team has responded we've received the same generic response that you have no updates and no timeline. As other commenters have said, this appears to be a relatively simple request. Can you explain how you prioritize these requests? Can you provide some type of game plan or timeline as to when we can see this request prioritized?
I second what Adam Roskowski said. We need a timeline. This an other issues are making me reconsider the expansion of the use of GoCanvas in our business and begin to look at other solutions that offer better out of the box solutions for security and workflow.
Lauren Sunday you should create a form in goCanvas asking for feedback about goCanvas. If you need help, I'm sure i can lend you 5 minutes and design the PDF for you and add anyone you want to the distribution list. (This is pure satire, obviously you should create that form in another software to see where you can enhance your own)
This is becoming a bigger problem for me, more and more people are requesting access to see where things are at in the workflow. We need a user role that can make submissions an view workflow status but not edit apps! Do I need to have all 200 of my users login and upvote this?
I'll post in here every morning til it's done if that's what it takes
Joseph Nelson,
It has been a long time I requested the same thing from the GoCanvas team. I am not content with that either. Still waiting. I was able to find a way around in order to have the apps secured. I created a master department and the apps are also created only there. Only the admin and key command users should be in this department. Then I share the apps in different departments. All the app's references and back-end information can't be accessed touched or edited.
The users outside the master department are able to access the app tab, however, the only thing they can do is copy the app to their own department, which you will be able to see if they do that because the user of the master is also admin of the secondary departments.
I will have to look at that, but I'm sure the transition would be a disaster because we haven't been setup that way from the beginning. Also struggling with pulling workflow data together when an app is assigned to multiple departments, then I have to go to each individually to get the workflow data to report on in process work.
I hope you find a way!!!
Good morning everyone!
I am so excited to announce that the Company Dispatcher role has now been added to the list of GoCanvas User Roles! This role has the following permissions:
The Company Administrator can update the role of any existing user or choose this role when creating a new user. Custom permissions is still a request at this time but the Dispatcher role was highly requested and hopefully will provide a solution to some of your concerns.
Please visit the this link to learn more about managing user roles or let me know if you have any questions!
You literally do not listen to any of the feedback provided. This is a nonsense feature you have developed. It doesn't solve any of the problems outlined here.
The Company Dispatcher role helps, though it would still be good to have the ability to create custom roles and permissions.
