Allow "filter data sets" to be standardized; to be a selection option for a new field

A feature that allowed pre-made "filter data sets" to be standardized; for use as a selection option for a new field.

This feature would correlate to EXCEL’s drop down list function. For just one category of survey equipment, there may be 20 or more filter sets, each associated to individual field.  In GoCanvas, I have to re-create these filters for every update to the filter, or resort to replacing updated fields with another corrected field, and re-edit each field to its specific purpose.  This is very time consuming, messing, and prone to errors and omissions.

I'm not sure I fully understand the request, but are you using reference data to populate the Drop Down field?  You can use Excel to list the options and upload as a .csv, then set the Reference Data and Column for the Drop Down field.  You can have sub-filtered options up to 15 selections by listing them in subsequent columns and then setting the second drop down field to Reference Data and Column but also specifying the Reference Screen and Reference Field to the first Drop Down field.  Your .csv would look something like this for 3 options in first Drop Down field, and unique additional 3 values for secondary Drop Down field.

    Column 1, Column 2
    Option 1, suboption 1
    Option 1, suboption 2
    Option 1, suboption 3
    Option 2, suboption 4
    Option 2, suboption 5
    Option 2, suboption 6
    Option 3, suboption 7
    Option 3, suboption 8
    Option 3, suboption 9

  • Thanks for your help on this, Matt! My interpretation of this request was the same as yours, with the same recommendation - Dependent Reference Data. Here's some more info for you, John:

Let me know if that isn't what you're looking for though and we'll keep trying.

    Thanks!
