To review or edit any field settings in the App Designer / App Builder you need to navigate to each of these areas, one at a time:
- Screen
- Field
- Section
- Setting
This works, but is fairly labor intensive when you are trying to review all fields for naming conventions or a particular setting.
It would be fantastic if there was an option to navigate to a table / grid view with all of the fields in an app.
The table / grid could provide a quick way to review and edit properties for the fields, such as:
- Screen (maybe just read only)
- Label
- Type (maybe just read only)
- Style (maybe just read only)
- Default Value (maybe just checkbox or Y/N)
- Required
- Read Only
- Reference Data (maybe just the icon)
- Conditions (maybe just the icon icon)
- Page Break After
- Mobile Visible
- PDF Visible
- Web Visible
- Email Subject
- Email Body
- PDF File Name
- Submission Name
- Export Label
- PDF & Web Label
- Receipt Label
The table / grid page could also help to quickly obtain an optimum view by providing:
- A column choice control with check boxes and an apply button to show / hide (and maybe re-order) the fields as necessary
- Sort-able columns
- Set all to "X" options at the top of each column to allow quick population of a setting to the whole column and then you could just edit the outliers instead of all of them
The table / grid page could also help prevent accidents by providing one or more of these:
- A toggle switch to choose between Review or Edit mode
- A review changes modal window or screen that lists current and proposed values for only the changed items
- Save button with an "Are you sure" confirmation
