ISO compliant app version control

Could you make the app version history visible to admins?  To use these apps in an ISO 9001 environment it is required to have documented changes that include, version, date changed, who changed it, and if possible what changed.  I am pretty sure you know the version, date modified, and who saved it it is just not visible currently.  The "what changed" could be a simple user input to a note box.  This also allows developers a way to track changes as well.

  • For some reason, I can't vote "up" for this one.  But I agree with this comment and the others like it.  Being able to see who last edited an app is critical in large organizations.

  • Hi Justine - I don’t think anyone at GoCanvas reads these.

For GoCanvas- please see question from 3 months ago.   Has anyone at gocanvas looked at this?

  • For what it's worth, we look at every single Community post and comment that comes in. If there are no updates to report, we don't always respond, but rather use the data (upvotes and number of comments) to advocate for product improvements and changes.

I will be transparent on this one: this is an area I think we can do much better on (the whole workflow of publishing and versioning of Apps - we have a ton of requests that focus around those themes) and I bring it up every time we go into our long term planning. So upvoting these topics (including the ones Nathan linked to) is incredibly helpful to make the argument that we should invest in these types of features.

  • Hey Andy,

I do not have any updates as of now to provide but thank you for stopping by to show continued interest in this feature request. It really helps to upvote this post and the other two that Nathan shared at the top so that our product team is aware of what requests have energy behind them.

  • Hello everyone!

Great news, App Edit History is now available in GoCanvas!

App Edit History is a feature found within the App Settings page that allows Admins and Designers to view the high-level changes made to their forms. These events includes:

    • Archived
    • Copy
    • Copy the selected version
    • Created
    • Published
    • Saved
    • Split app versions
    • Undo last publish
    • Unretired
    • Version Deleted

This feature can be found in the Quick Links section of each Apps Settings page. To access App Edit History, go to the Apps page > App Settings > App Edit History in the Quick Links section at the top.

This is not a retroactive history. You’ll only see the list of events occurring after the official launch date of this feature.

Please visit the Help Center Topic to read all release information.

  • Lauren,

Thank you. I think this could be the first useful update from GoCanvas in a long time.

My only concern is that it logs the listed events, but not the actual editing that has been done.

It would be better use if it logged the differences in the app between each version.

    Many thanks

    Andy

  • Hi Andy,

Yes, that would be awesome! I believe that level of tracking is in consideration but was not possible with this first release. I will keep you updated if more events are added to App Edit History.

  • Hi Andy,

At this time we don't have any further updates to our App Edit History. We will be sure to update here if there are any changes. Thank you for your continued interest in this feature!
