Reverting to previous version of Published app

    Hi Brian,

Without giving away too many GoCanvas secrets, members of our Support and Development Teams do have the ability to revert versions of an App, but we generally do it in extreme cases - for example, a new version of an App is corrupted or broken in some way, but the previous version isn't.

Obviously, getting in touch with Support every time you basically want to "undo" a change isn't terribly practical. I'm going to go ahead and convert this into a Feature Request so people can upvote it and hopefully get the attention of the Product Team.

    Thanks!

I might be wrong, but I feel like at one point in time we already had the ability to do this...

There used to be a way to test your app without publishing (I only tried it once or twice), but that functionality seems to have disappeared after the last website redesign.

    Hi Chris,

We still do have testing mode - here's some info about that: https://help.gocanvas.com/hc/en-us/articles/115006847448. It does look like testing mode is enabled for your account, so if it's not appearing as an option for you, let me know and I'll convert your comment into a ticket for our support team to check out.

    Thanks!

As far as I can tell, Testing mode only works if an app has never been published. Once as app has been published, it can't be reverted to Testing mode. Even if there is a way to do that (please share), is it also possible to revert to a previously Published version from the Test version? I'm guessing there is not but just making sure.

You can test on published Apps as well:

    1. Save without publishing, which will put your App into "Pending" status:

    2. Go back to the Apps page, click on the name of the App, and then scroll to the Actions section to publish for testing.

    3. Your users will stay on the existing published version, and admins will be able to test the new version. If you want to discard your changes, you can delete the testing version, which will revert to your latest published version:

Or, you can go back into the App Builder and publish your changes as usual, and your users will get the new version next time they sync.

I have this exact problem, I edited from version 25 to version 28 of my app; now I wish for 25 back because somehow the PDF is a corrupted old version.

Hi Amy, I'm going to go ahead and convert your post into a ticket so that our Support Team can take a look at specifically what's going on.

    Thanks!

I have an app that is integrated with our business software.  I also wish I could publish a new version of the app and have the ability to step back to a previous version.  I can't actually test it because my test version wouldn't be integrated.  I do wish we could save it as it is and then build on it and experiment and then roll back and start over if it doesn't work as planned.

    Hey Tara,

I'm curious, every time you make an update to your app, do you need to re-integrate with your business software? I imagine that is a lot of work, can we help you with this somehow?
