Converting a picture of numbers and/or letters to a string of text

It would be extremely useful to have the ability to take a picture of a series of numbers and/or letters and have it automatically convert them into a string of test. Similar to how you scan a credit card on various applications. We work with lots of serial numbers that don't always have barcodes associated with them, so having this ability would save our team A LOT of time!
