Flowchart View in App Designer

Visual representation of app through a flowchart would be of considerable benefit when creating, editing and improving apps with multiple conditional fields.

Would allow designers and checkers to view workflow in flowchart form prior to release rather than having to go in and out and check individual fields.

Flowchart view would also ensure that managers understand the workflows in their departments and would be invaluable during 3rd party audit.

  • Oh man, this would make so many things easier. I'm going to pass this around internally, I think you'll get some upvotes from our Support Team, who often spend a lot of time troubleshooting this stuff without a map. Thanks for your suggestion, Dave!

  • Over a year on now and not having this feature is still costing us time testing and trouble shooting particularly where we have new app designers needing assistance.

    Has there been any progress?

  • Hi all,

Thanks for checking in about this. Flow charts/visual views of Apps have definitely been considered, especially with the complexity that Workflow and Conditions involve. We understand how helpful this would be! At this time, there isn't a timeframe I can provide, but I wanted to assure you that it's definitely on our Product Team's radar.

    Thanks,
    Siobhan

  • Is there another solution or work around that GoCanvas can offer?

  • Hi Dave,

Unfortunately, there isn't really a solution or workaround we can offer since any given App build is particularly ingrained in our platform, unlike Submission data which is readily exportable in multiple formats. It's definitely something we've thought about in the bigger picture of making the App Builder easier to use, which is a significant endeavor that's very important to us. We will continue to research and design with this mind, for sure.

    All the best,
    Siobhan

  • A few more months have passed.   Any update on how things are going with this one?

  • No updates here. If we get to the point where progress is being made on any of these, and it looks like there's a real possibility that the functionality will be released, I'll certainly update. At this point, there is no work being done on this.
