Position tracking ability via map link built into Canvas Apps

We include a map link as part of our apps to highlight points of interest and direct our teams.

We added tracking ability via Web pages using the JavaScript function "navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition" and we are not able to track our position/movements from inside canvas (ie using the Canvas built in web browser).

The function works outside of Canvas but not from Canvas environment.

Having this function is extremely useful for on site work, in locating points of interest with ease while being mobile.

  • Hi Kratis,

This is an interesting request. I have a few questions to try to understand the full use case and see if we can come up with a work around:

    • What are the types of directions/points of interest you're highlighting? Are these things that would appear, for example, on a google map, or are they manually curated or added by your team?
    • Are these multi-step directions that require verifying that the user has completed each step?
    • Are you able to post one of the links you're sending people to (if you don't want to post it here, feel free to email me at community@gocanvas.com)?

    Thanks!
