It would be helpful if drop-down menus with more than just a few choices would offer a "letter chooser" in addition to the search area.
Currently if a drop-down menu is tapped / clicked and the list of choices contains more than just a few entries, a search bar appears at the top. A user can then use the search box to filter the results down.
It would be nice to keep the existing search functionality, but also provide a small "A-Z" icon or "#" icon or something similar at the top right next to the the search box kind of like this:
Clicking or tapping that button would open a modal window / grid with fairly large buttons for the letters of the alphabet and possibly the numbers 0 - 9. Clicking or tapping a letter or number would quickly jump to and / or filter down the list of choices to those beginning with that character.
This would be a little bit similar to the way the Windows 10 start menu acts when a letter is chosen.
