Hey everyone! We've released the first part of "contains" for both Android and iOS. The new functionality includes the ability to do "contains," "starts with" and "ends with." The ability to do the opposite ("does not contain," etc.) will be coming soon as well. Release notes & details for this will be out tomorrow.

This is something we have heard before for sure. No time frame on this one at all but I'll be watching the votes in here!  Thanks for posting.

This one actually tripped me up when I was building an app to apply for my job here at GoCanvas. Upvoted :)

I needed this today while updating an app to hide a field that is worthless most of the time except for one specific customer we do business with

In addition to "Contains", "Starts with" would be extremely useful too!

In addition to "Contains", "Starts with" would be extremely useful with the option of Wildcards.

    Contains ***ABC******

    or

    Starts with  222***

This is currently the highest voted feature request on this site. I guess the votes don't mean much.

    Hi Chris,

We do review and report on the number of votes feature requests are getting. The interest here is weighed against a lot of things, among them our overall product strategy, the level of effort required, user data, and insight from our user research (some quantitative, some qualitative).

Things from the Community do get implemented (a couple of examples: https://help.gocanvas.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360000175687-Hidden-or-read-only-GPS-field, https://help.gocanvas.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360000215048-Make-reference-data-available-as-a-dropdown-when-creating-a-dispatch). A few are in progress or on the roadmap (some examples: https://help.gocanvas.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360000174847-Page-numbering-in-PDF-Designer, https://help.gocanvas.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360000467367-Web-Version-of-Apps, https://help.gocanvas.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360000466907-The-ability-to-make-your-own-dashboard).

As far as this particular topic goes, I promise to keep advocating for it every chance I get. Thanks, as always, for your feedback.

I needed this yet again today and had to compromise on the functionality that was needed again...

I thought I would check here to see the current status of this request...  it would still be a useful feature

    Hi there!

GoCanvas is really impressive and I can see a lot of effort being put into building this platform. Now I'm looking for an alternative to switch from JotForm, which UX and UI needs a lot of improvements.

Today I found GoCanvas and it's on top 3 of my list now. However, after 30 minutes of testing I can tell there are some fundamental features missing here - one example is Field Condition.

My question is “How is that possible that you've created such an amazing app but cannot implement such a trivial feature users are asking you for 2 years?” I need CONTAINS option too. In my company we use Service Requests number to identify its type. I have to use CONTAINS condition to decide which fields should be shown and which should be hidden. Otherwise, I will have to either build multiple forms (this I can accept) and modify them as time goes by (this I cannot accept) or choose another way to get it solved with GoCanvas - for instance let user decide by choosing an option from drop-down. Second option means no-automation and leaves plenty of room for mistakes.

Another example is Field mask - why did you implement it so poorly? There is one fundamental thing missing too - this option should also allow placing specific character (alphanumerical or non-alphanumerical). Please have a look how Google implemented regular expressions in Google Forms - it gives users virtually endless possibilities - so please follow Google :-)

Your app looks really great, but you should also react better to what your users are saying. There's no better way of user satisfacion improvement. Statements like that provided by Sara Kaplow don't bring you closer to your users to be honest.

    Fingers crossed!

    Hi Bartosz (and others),

The contains functionality for conditions will be out in the next few weeks. I know it's been a long wait.

I do hear you on the feedback about field masking, and I'd encourage you to put your exact use case in as a feature request. This is a feature that is not widely used (perhaps because it doesn't do enough), so I'd love to be able to build a case to invest some time into it if folks are interested.

    Thanks!

Hey Julius! We're on track for this to come out this week. I will (very excitedly) update this post when we've submitted the version containing contains to the various App Stores.

Is it possible to create a field condition based on a multiple choice drop down? I have tried a few different options with little success.I am looking to add a "Calibration Date" option only if a certain option is selected as part of the multiple choice drop down. Thanks

    Howdy Bob,

You can set field or screen conditions based on user input for most field types, including Drop Down fields and Multiple Choice fields.

Could you please share more specific details on your use case and the hurdles you have encountered when trying to set up Conditions? That way, other users in the Community can provide their insight on the matter.

Alternatively, you can submit a ticket to our Support Team for direct troubleshooting with your App and any issues you may have encountered.

Using CONTAINS function worked exactly by setting the specific name of the item checked.  Thanks!

Any update on "contains" condition for Windows? I use Windows for form testing and not having this work in Windows client is painful.

  • Howdy Mike,

Thank you for checking in on this functionality for the Windows client. COVID-19 has changed things dramatically for all businesses. We're regularly re-evaluating and re-prioritizing as we learn more each day.

At this time, we have no planned release date for 'Contains' Conditions for Windows. But this is something we want to provide and we will share any major updates directly on this Feature Request post.
