It would be nice if there were a way to complete GoCanvas App submissions from the web UI.
While this would require connectivity, it would also provide a very convenient way to complete some submissions from anywhere there is web access without having to install any software.
The apps are very nice and would likely remain the primary way to work with GoCanvas, but being able to complete submissions from the web UI would be very helpful sometimes.

2024 Update:
The Community is getting cleaned up! If you are stumbling across this post after September of 2024, this is the most recent solution or answer to the request in this post.
There is movement toward a universal web browser client. This post will be updated when more information is available.
For me, its employees only. We have 50 user licenses. Some users have a desktop and a laptop, which means desktop admin support has to install/re-install it 50 - 75 times every time there's an update. In particular, I am referring to the Windows Desktop version. However, I believe all of our newly purchased (company owned) iPads also require an admin password to install updates. We are 50 users among a thousands people asking for IT's attention. I also hate to continually bother the users to go through the necessary steps to have it installed or have it updated.
I'm trying to use this app software for my clients and would like to allow them to fill out the form from anywhere. I work with a population that can't always get to an office and who I don't always meet in person. It would be incredibly helpful to send them a link or have them add the app and then fill out the form remotely.
We've had this request from several of our users as well.. We have had IT issues with the windows version of the app and a web UI would solve this for our users..
Hi folks.... it sounds like this is primarily for your employees to use.
Would you ever need your customers to fill out forms? Or partners? Or is your interest in this focused on your employees having another way to fill out forms? Just curious!
While currently, being able to have this feature for employees would be great, having this feature for use on our website, linked to from social media, or even ads, would be ideal. Having the ability for clients to do the data input for us as part of the lead generation would be incredible. Having the ability to let clients measure for custom products, with the help of our apps, would be next level. Plus, wouldn't it be great to have Survey Monkey type integration with your tools?
This would get around the fact you don't have a client for Mac, which is big issue for apple based businesses.
We have a ton of users who would benefit with this feature. I hope this will be included on your roadmap for 2019.
Continuing to have problems with 'out of date" versions of GoCanvas. The older versions of GoCanvas will not display mirror fields. Very confusing when the user should be seeing information but there is none present. I agree with one of the previous statements about having a customer interface web ui. I don't want to buy a GoCanvas user license for every (temporary) customer. If you could email someone a link where they could open a web ui and fill out the app and submit the info similar to survey monkey that would be a great feature. I think something like this was discussed at Transform but it was more along the context of having a follow-up survey after a service call.
We're seeing new features added to the mobile app, but not to the PC app, which is starting to cause challenges for us as we can't utilize any of the new field types because we have users filling out apps on their mobile devices and workstations. We've been told that there will be a web app coming soon that will replace the desktop app and include all fo the new features, however it would be really nice to see a PC app update or a web app soon.
We have to submit a helpdesk ticket to have it installed on our desktops, when an update is required, we have to put in another helpdesk ticket and have a system desktop admin come again and install the update. It's definitely an aggrevation. For me it's bearable. Despite my best efforts to make peoples lives easier using gocanvas, there are people who are very resistant to change and technology and this is just another obstacle to them. If it were web based, that would definitely solve the issue.
For us it would be employees as well. I was picturing being able to authenticate via the WebUI just like now and just have an extra tab or button in the top or left nav to provide the app functionality. Sync / Receive Dispatches / Fill out forms, etc just like the actual software - except in a web browser.
There might be some future use for customers or partners to do some of this - (what ever happened to the thing that was called "MyCanvas" previously - does it still exist?) - but that would be down the road if at all.
I've found that an out of date windows version will not see dispatched items correctly. Some, but not all, fields that are dispatched appear blank. The same dispatch on an up to date Android or iOS version shows the information correctly with no issues.
It drives you nuts when you are building an app and you want to take it for a test drive. You finds problems and are trying to diagnose the issue in the app builder when after an hour or two you realize it's solely a version issue. At least I know to try it on different app platforms before I jump to conclusions from now on.
I think we've been officially been demoted to the lowest of the low priority on the Help desk "to do" list. If you want to make sure you won't hear anything from the help desk for several days, put "GoCanvas" in the subject line of your help desk request.
I am sure everyone at GoCanvas is anxious to release updates for new features as they become available but making the existing version(s) become obsolete without a simpler way (than an IT guy) to upgrade the software is causing issues for me. I think somewhere in the GoCanvas presentation it says "No IT guy required".
My issue is simple. I would like to be able to send out a form that we create on GoCanvas to a new customer who fills it in and then send it back to us. The idea of asking them to download the app to complete the form to then have the app deleted once completed is crazy. I think paying for so many licenses is great within the same company but when you want to go outside and show how good a product this is it fails every single time. Free publicity to show how simple this product is to use is being missed.
Needs to be addressed
I spoke to an account manager and (apparently) this is now on the roadmap. Would be nice to have this confirmed along with a date...
I'm with Keith on the previous versions of GoCanvas causing problems. Every time there is an updated version, the people with the older version(s) seem to experience... various bugs and difficulties.
Also, any movement or updates on this request?
This would save myself and especially my clients so much time if they were able to complete their intake form prior to their visit
Any news on a date? would love to have clients fill out forms at the moment I'm using both gocanvas and jotforms and its not sustainable
We would like the ability to link to apps via our Intranet so that employees can complete forms online. This would make GoCanvas so much more useful!
When are we going to get this... the PC app no longer being updated is creating issues with users who review submissions on PCs. Can't see multi-photo fields, only see 1st photo... several other compatibility issues
With Dramatic changes in business and employees working remotely, there is a shift back to desktop apps and Go Canvas is not user friendly without a desktop extension. It is much faster to do things on a PC if you are sitting at the desk. Please add the desktop functions as a extension for the mobile app
COVID has change the way we meet and "Visit" clients so it is Critical for Go Canvas to step up and adapt to this need
Since the Windows client will be retired, will there still be a way to do offline submissions in the web client when it is released? While most of our users have connectivity most of the time, one of the reasons we originally elected to go with GoCanvas was its ability to use the "apps" in offline mode for syncing at a later time. We do still occasionally encounter instances where connectivity is not available on job sites.
In addition, maintaining feature parity would be nice.
Also, if the web client will be geared toward PC / Mac / full-sized monitor / keyboard / mouse type environments, perhaps the overall look and feel of the mobile apps could be preserved in the web app while still allowing users to take full advantage of the screen real estate and navigation tools that they are used to. For instance, auto-scaling (especially horizontally) to allow users not to have to scroll to view out-of-range fields on a grid screen (within reason). Maybe other similar "mobile type" limitations could be avoided in the web app? (If the web app will be mobile responsive, then the mobile version could essentially be a copy of the Android and iOS apps.)
Howdy Nathan,
This is great feedback! Thank you for sharing such detailed suggestions. I will be sure to provide this to our Product managers as they are planning for the web client.
Any movement on this?
it would be nice to have a web version than you do not need to upgrade hardware if GoCanvas only works with a newer version of Android.
Seems like a big limitation.
Any updates on a web client for forms?
How many votes do you guys need so you can prioritize this request? Please our customers are begging for this feature for such a long time as well, esp. during this pandemic.
Great to hear! After years of asking for a web client and the depreciation of the desktop app it’s great that the product team are going to have a think about if this is a good idea or not. Fingers crossed it doesn’t take as long to build it as it does to decide if it’s a good idea or not. Looking forward to submitting a form via a web browser (sometime in 2030 ;-).
No updates here at this point. I can say that it is something we're working on pretty aggressively and as soon as I hear anything, I'll post it here.
