Allow video uploads from Apps

From Sean Bryant:

My team would really like to see if you could possibly add in the future a feature for a short video upload. You already offer a great feature with the camera and being able to upload a photo from the field. But in the line of work my  team works in a short 1 minute or two minute video would be able to provide more in depth detail for our repair techs back at the office.

  • This would be beneficial for us as well.

  • This would also be beneficial for our organization, it is often necessary to include video data along with our inspection reports to the customer.

  • I have a client who would really like this feature also. If it would be easier, could we upload media from the device along with a submission?

  • I have a project/client that would benefit from this as well.  Perhaps an embedded feature that would scale down the resolution and limit size to 20 MB.

  • Howdy Jason,

Thank you for checking in on this Feature Request! We do not have an estimated timeline to add video capture/upload functionality, but I can definitely see how this would be helpful for a variety of use cases.

I will be sure to share your feedback (along with other comments and upvote counts) with our Product managers to emphasize the demand for this functionality.

  • This would be a benefit to use as well.

  • I'm surprised this doesn't have more up votes...this would be a powerful tool for anyone who uses GoCanvas as a service provider.  Video documentation of work performed links embedded into the document for clients along with the written documentation.

  • Hi Heidi,

Thank you so much for expressing your interest in a new feature again. This currently is not available on the platform, but I've passed this over to our product team and will update here when we have an update.

A workaround, for now, if you want your users to see a video is to host your video on another platform (Youtube or Vimeo for example) then insert the link into a link field for your users to select when going through the form.
If you want your users to be able to record a video, I believe you can use a third-party video recording software to record a video and then get a link. You would then need your users to upload that link into a short text field, rather than a link field!
    I hope this helps,

  • Hello,

Has there been any update to the video upload feature? This would be a great feature for anyone one in the service industry. By being able to upload video images we could give our customers a clear understanding of the issue, and gain a sense of trust in what is needed and why.

  • Hi Armando,

Thanks so much for your continued interest in this feature! Although I don't have any firm updates for you now our team has had increased interest in this feature and sees the value it would bring to teams.

I hope to be able to update here soon.
