Make reference data available as a dropdown when creating a dispatch

Please make Reference Data available to fields of an app when creating a new Dispatch.  We wish to pre-populate customer contact info etc. from Reference Data in drop-down fields at the time a Dispatch is created in the same manner when a new instance is created from a mobile device.

    I agree it would be nice to get the reference data tables available within the dispatch feature.  I understand the reference data drop downs are to make life easier in the field, but we anticipate using the dispatch feature to aid in getting as much information into the submission before it is dispatched to the field personnel, but they all need to be working off of the same data.  Thanks!

  • We have wanted this for a very long time.  We use reference data extensively to control the quality of our dispatches.  Because of this, the web UI dispatch functionality is largely useless to us.  This would fix that for us and give us much more flexibility in dispatching.

  • Yes, I steer away from reference data just because of this. If you cut and paste the available options into a drop down list in the app they do show up when you are creating a dispatch. Somewhat defeats the point of using reference data. However, the user filling out the app still sees the choices from the reference data provided and not the answers provided in the app.

  • I agree!  We have built a app that would handle a large portion of our internal operation and can't use it until this feature is added.  I have to be able to dispatch multiple days out and with out the ability to use reference data in dispatch we will have to put this app on hold.  It is unfortunate so much time was put into it and Zapier building the processes just to find out it is useless because we can't dispatch it.

  • This is currently on our roadmap. That doesn't guarantee that it will happen, but for right now it's on the scheduled. Will keep everyone posted!

  • I am with all of you on the need to access reference data through Dispatch. We have a delivery/proof of delivery app that we use to price jobs but getting correct info from the users is difficult. We text staff the details and they still can't enter correct codes or actions which requires manual intervention after the job is submitted. If we could pre fill the needed fields from the reference data it would save even more time. This should be a priority and would make Gocanvas so useful & valuable then to an organization..

  • This feature is a must have. I started using reference data as an effective way to maintain and update lists. Now I have to go back to hard coding it into the app in order for dispatch to be useful.

  • Agreed with the users above.  When we send a service tech out on a call, we pre-fill all of the customer information info including customer name, address, state, zip code, etc. so they know which location to go to.  Currently, we have to manually log all of that information for each call, which is extremely time consuming.  If we could auto-populate these fields from reference data it would provide a tremendous level of added value to our organization in both cost-savings and accuracy.
