Compare values of two fields when the contents aren't just number

It would be very nice to be able to do conditional logic like if the value of field a = the value of field b then do this thing or show this screen or show this field or populate this field with this, etc.

Just ran into a similar scenario. I have a drop-down with "Original Scope" and "Scope Growth" as the available options.

Would like to be able to set up conditional logic that forces the user to select "Scope Growth" if the date has already passed.

Field Condition(s): if "Today's date" (read only, auto-filled) is less than or equal to a pre-determined date (entered into the app by reference data), then the field should be called "Original Scope". If today's date is greater than the pre-determined date, it must be submitted as a "Scope Growth".

I would like to setup a required short text 'read only' field with no available answers as a "stop check" field.. I am sure someone else has another catchy name for this already but I don't know what it is..

The "stop check" would be, If the user enters "Original Scope" and the date has already passed, the read only, no available answer, short text appears and says, "Since the date has already passed, you must submit this as a "Scope Growth".

For now, (unless I figure out something simpler) I can do this manually by removing "Original Scope" from the available reference data file the day after the date (as long as I remember to do it), but it would be nice to have this as a native function (set it and forget it).

If someday, reference data can be targeted by a zap, then I could at least set it and forget it.

    Hi Keith,

Thank you for sharing a detailed use case for this feature request. Setting it and forgetting it is a crucial element to streamlining existing processes using GoCanvas. Thanks again for coming back to this and sharing your experience.

    All the best,
    Siobhan

    I also need this feature:

It would be very nice to be able to do conditional logic like if the value of field a = the value of field b then do this thing or show this screen or show this field or populate this field with this, etc.

Please try and provide this feature at the earliest. Thanks.

There are tens of apps that we use that has the need of this feature, as of now we need to do a work around which adds tons of extra work and doesn't work in all cases. this feature would help us a lot

    One more vote here.

The ability to compare two fields (as opposed to compare a field with a constant) to display a screen or field would be really nice also here.

We scan & check barcodes as part of an on-site inspection and while we can scan the item number barcodes, but no way to automatically compare if the scanned data actually matches the correct item number.

We have 1500 different items so the item number check cannot be hard coded into the app.

    Howdy All,

Thank you for checking in on this Feature Request and sharing such detailed feedback. We do not have an estimated timeline on the functionality to use a Field as a direct comparison for Conditions.

However, I have shared these comments and upvote counts directly with our Product managers. They appreciate the specific use case examples, as this helps them with prioritization and planning for future updates.

    Hi,

We are facing the same problem here, using apps to audit our fleet and keep our master data up to data. Per equipment we are checking 10+ paremeters like counters, model name,... and that for thousands of equipment. I'm setting up the app in order for the auditor to scan the bar code have all parameters pre-filled if possible, but it's always a huge exercise to control if something has been change.

I was hoping to be able to duplicate all the fields and hide one of them, in order to compare both fields and have an automatic counting/reporting of the number of changes done.

So the feature as requested above would make this possible and bring us a lot of added value.

    Thanks!

I feel like this is such a critical feature, I'm totally blocked without it.

I need to confirm if a barcode scan matches the desired product, I need to select a dropdown option, then scan, and after scan, it should confirm those fields match.

Any updates? Conditional logic based upon field comparisons would be a great feature.
