On June 20, 2017 we released our updated app that runs on Windows devices running Windows 7, 8 or 10. This will not run on Windows phones. This is for laptop computers, desktop computers or Surface devices running the regular Windows operating system.
So what can you do with this new release? A LOT MORE!
Folders are now visible and available for use so your laptop users can take advantage of this organizational tool.
Department functionality allows you to divide up your GoCanvas account into Departments so that various teams within your organization cannot see each others's apps and submissions. If Department functionality is enabled for your account, the new GoCanvas Windows App will support it.
The new functionality comes into play when your user is a member of two departments and an app he/she is filling out is assigned to both departments. The user has to choose which department the submission should belong to.
Table of Contents
For apps that require the user to fill things out in a non-linear order, Table of Contents is just the ticket. Users can go in whatever order they want by choosing screens within the app to fill out.
Loop/List screens can be displayed as a grid or table. This allows the user to quickly see what he or she has added to the list.
Dispatch List/Loop Screens
If you are dispatching jobs with our Dispatch feature, you are now able to dispatch items on a Loop screen. Our Android and iOS versions have supported this for a while now.
History (Edit & View Submissions)
Allowing your users to pull submissions back down to their laptop/desktop and edit them is a powerful feature. They can also create a new submission using the data from that prior submission. They can also view the PDF document that was created. This is great for daily or weekly reports that don't change much from one to the other. Your users can save a ton of time with this. View PDF & Sync After Tapping Submit
View PDF - After syncing the user can view the PDF document that GoCanvas creates. Whether you are using our Standard PDF, one that you created with our PDF Designer, or one we custom built for you, it is now visible right away. This is a great way to show customers a form and walk through it together.
Sync After Tapping Submit - This is a control we have on iOS and Android, but it just allows the user to toggle this control on from the sync screen. Instead of being prompted if you want to upload after hitting "Submit" it will sync automatically.
Draw on Image
This might be tricky if you're using a mouse or track pad, but you can now draw on an image you capture or a Reference Image.
Web Link & GPS Fields
Web Link - Link your laptop/desktop users to other resources via our Web Link field. Perhaps there are other images or spec documents or pricing tables or any other kind of information on the web that your laptop/desktop users need to access. Now all of that is one click away.
GPS - Now you can capture the location of these users just like you are used to doing for users on iOS or Android devices. If you do not have a GPS chip in your laptop/desktop it will use your IP address.
Blank Date & Time Fields
Do your users need to enter installation dates or birthdays? I'm sure they were tired of these fields auto populating with the current date and time. Now date fields in our App Builder can be set to blank for laptop/desktop users.
