What is Display Field?

Display Field will rename a key field entry of a loop screen based on a field in the loop detail screen. This feature comes in handy when you have lists that will have the same key field entry but different information in the detail and when using Barcode scanning on your iOS or Android device.

Renaming a List Item

Example: If I am scanning the Barcodes for multiple items, instead of seeing a list full of barcodes on my device, I can set my form to pull the name of the item.

So, instead of seeing:                             

• 0123456789
• 0987654321
• 5678904321

I would see:

• Large Water
• Small Water
• Medium Water

Another example:

If I were to be adding cases of water I have to a list, instead of seeing:

• Large Water
• Large Water
• Large Water

I could see:

• Aquafina
• Fiji
• Deer Park

To set your list up follow these steps:

1. Login and open the Form Builder for the form you want to edit.
2. Select or create the loop screen you would like to change the display field for.
3. Open the Screen Settings.
   
   
    
4. Click the Display Field drop down and choose the field you wish to pull information from and then click done (You may only select Short Text, Drop Down, Number, Date or Time field).
5. Publish to device to see it in action!
